    Rosebuds & Hanging Baskets

    Saturday, February 2, 2008, 04:08 PM [General]

    A teenage grandaughter
    Comes downstairs for her date
With his see-through blouse on and no bra.
Her grandmother just pitched a fit,
Telling her not to dare go out like that!
The teenager tells her "Loosen up Grams.
    These are modern times.
You gotta let your rose buds show!'
    And out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes down stairs,
And the grandmother is sitting there with no top on.
    The teenager wants to die.
    She explains to her grandmother
That she has friends coming over
And that it is just not appropriate....
The grandmother says, 'Loosen up, Sweetie.
If you can show off your rose buds,
Then I can display my hanging baskets.'

The case of the M&M's and the mailbox

    Wednesday, January 30, 2008, 04:45 PM [General]

Monday, while chunking mail, I noticed 2 m&m wrappers in a mailbox. Now, I ask you, " what would you do?"  Would you:

(a)see them, and figure a kid left them in their trying to mail something, like rocks, gum, pieces of paper, etc.

    (b) see them, remove them, becuase obviously they were garbage.

    (c) see them, and just put the day's mail on top and move on to the next box.

    (d) if you have another answer I'm dying to know.

I chose C. And, put Mondays mail on top, and carried on. Tuesday came. The wrappers I'm assuming were still under Mondays mail, since it was not gone.  So, tuesdays mail was chunked on top. And, I moved on.  Wednesday comes, nothing in the box.  ok.  Wednesdays mail, chunked and I'm gone.   Get back to the PO. The candy wrappers were sitting at my case. I see them and think those were the ones from that mailbox.  The crazy lady brought them in today and complained ON ME.  She said it was obviously me eating M&Ms and left my garbage in her box, because it was mixed in with her mail. PM asked me if I did that. I almost laughed in her face. "No, I did not leave garbage in her mailbox or any other mailbox for that matter. I do not even like M&M's."  THe lady said I must have done it because they were opened in the same corner of each bag, so the same person must have put both of them in there. "Again. I do not eat m&m's. I did not do it"  So Pm writes a note to the lady for me to put in her box tomo: " I spoke with the carrier, she says she did not do it. I threw the wrappers away".

To top that off. The lady owns a daycare center that is located right beside her house. Dontcha think one of those kids just might have done it?  Grrrrr. I have lost faith in people in general......

Things that make you go hmmm?

    Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 06:09 PM [General]

Why is it Mondays are so tough?  The rest of the week is a breeze. Every Monday I'm slammed with everything ( boxholders, parcels, catalogs out the ying-yang, bills bills and more bills, and lets not forget that wonderful junk mail, oodles and oodles of wasted space.

But, of course, when count starts everything magically goes away. And, we're living in Mayberry.

    Rebate from the gov't? What?

    Thursday, January 24, 2008, 06:10 PM [General]

With unprecedented speed and cooperation, Congress and the White House forged a deal Thursday to begin rushing tax rebates of $600 to $1,200 to most tax filers by spring, hoping they will spend the money just as quickly and jolt the ailing economy to life.

About two-thirds of the tax relief would go out in rebate checks to 117 million families beginning in May. Businesses would get $50 billion in incentives to invest in new plants and equipment.

Individual taxpayers would get up to $600 in rebates, working couples $1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. In a key concession to Democrats, 35 million families who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates.

The rebates would phase out gradually for individuals whose adjusted gross income exceeds $75,000 and for couples with incomes above $150,000. Contributions to IRA and 401(k) retirement accounts and health savings accounts would not count toward the income limit.
