    Food Drive

Saturday, May 10, 2008, 03:53 PM EST [General]

Well, that had to be the easiest food drive day I've ever had to do.

It only took me 3 hours to do my route, which it normally takes, so it didn't slow me down at all. I only filled my back seat partway!

Before, I'd always fill my back seat, my whole back, part of the front with me, but not this year...i barely filled a quarter of a cart when I got back...everyone else had at least a full cart.

People on my route are SLACK this year, lol.

you lucked out, I had to call for p/u 'cause the cans were even with the tray of my llv, & I still had 2 neighborhoods to go! good thing i had already picked up 5 tubs earlier this week! made me feel good that manager & supvs were running between pickup points in the sweltering humid heat of the llv's today. that & the pm was helping at the food bank, sorting all the food in the hot sun!

this year is my last year to participate...i wont do it again...there was some issues with me informing people it was voluntary...even tho i picked it all up...so now they got a whole year to find another volunteer...im done working for free...they shame u into it and make u feel like a "green turd" if u dont feel like it...or just dont have the gas...so next year i wont feel bad at all.

Wow, Carrie!! You were lucky. I literally filled up my LLV and had to go out again. We have 11 rural carriers here and 10 volunteered. The lone shmuck that didn't volunteer said, "It's the NALC Food Drive, not the NRLCA Food Drive - I'm not volunteering!" Yesterday was a long day!
