    More Stuff

Thursday, March 6, 2008, 05:02 PM EST [General]

    Let's see...

Last night was great at the Aqua. I made him dress up in his nice coat and dress shirt and even made him wear the nice shoes, hehe. I wore my new dress and new shoes, and I love them! We got compliments all night long :)

Dinner was awesome, between us we got:

Roast beet salad with feta and mandarin orange

    Assorted cheeses

    Curried Beef over hazelnut couscous

Bacon Wrapped Scallaps with a honeyed BBQ sauce

Citrus Teriyaki shrimp with lo mein and been sprouts

Crab cake (all crap, no cake, lol)

4 chocolate truffles representative of their 4 signature desserts (creme brulee, bananas foster, strawberry chocolate, and chocolate expresso cheesecake)

2 glasses of Serenity Merlot and an Almond Joy Martini lol

I love that place and can't wait to go back :)

Work today was a big blow to the stomach though :( So here it goes...

First off, I had 60 parcels of unholy sizes. One was SO large and heavy I couldnt lift it, let alone get my arms halfway around it. It cost them $84 to send it first class if that gives you an idea. You better believe I left the damn thing at the office and gave the guy a 3849. He wasn't home anyway, and I would have needed help. He's a big strong marine, he'll be ok picking it up at work lol. Also, a friend of mine who gets quite a few packages had 10 large boxes of shipping boxes come in. They were huge and they took up every square inch of my jeep today. They were heavy and awkward to say the least. Then my PM and the clerks were piling mail up so precariously next to my case, everything fell over and spilled across the aisle---3 buckets of flats and a tray of hot letters. I got mad and said as much about piling things so high and unstable...Then I got a COMPLAINT printed out and slapped on my desk about a hole that has been growing under a mailbox. I left a note for someone this week that said "Is there any way the hole under the mailbox could get filled in? Thanks! *smiley face*" Yes, I put a smiley face on my notes to give the impression that I am indeed trying to commune in a nonthreatening manner. The girl is a stay at home mom with two kids whose father is in Iraq, and she has always been nice to me. This hole has been growing because its really sandy and everytime I stop at her box it pushes the dirt down deeper and deeper and I'm finally to where I'm STUCK when I stop at this box and have to give it a little gas to get out. ANYWAY, the note says something like this:

    Problem: Behavior

Behavior?? I thought my note was nice!

    Destruction of Property

Comments: Carriers erratic manner of driving is digging a sink hole under mailbox. Hole has been filled three times already.

Alright. This hole has NEVER been filled. My manner isn't erratic. I drive 20 ft box to box, I hit snail's pace, tops. And its not her property. Its whoever owns the road or the side of the road or whatever.

SO, armed with her email, I march up to her front door today. She wanted a callback? Well I was going to give her better!

I HATE for people to not like me. I don't know WHY. I go out of my way to pacify situations and try to MAKE PEOPLE LIKE ME. Maybe I'm ill...

But she was so darn smiley and friendly at the door, and I couldn't help but be smiley and friendly as well, and after lots of awkward chatter and laughs we concluded that maybe just moving the box a little closer to the road would fix everything (so my vehicle would never have to touch the dirt at all). Problem solved.

Next problem was getting to the friends house that had ordered 10 boxes of boxes. She was in complete shock, she didnt realize how many she ordered. She said "I only ordered 25 packing boxes!" and we both now have a fear that 15 more boxes of boxes will show up tomorrow. I guess she put the wrong number in the wrong blank on the order form :) But I said, well it would be a happy accident since its mail count hehe. But to my sadness she is moving :( She has been here 10 years and I really like her a lot. Her husband is coming home next week from his 2 year stay in Iraq and he has an AMAZING job opportunity in PA, and they've even found a wonderful home on 30 acres up there (which is good she has more pets than I do lol). So that was sad news for me today.

I got home around 3 today and have been cleaning and doing bills...fun fun... I have to contact my travel agent tonight about our deposit for our cruise this October. Problem is, I'm not sure if we should get the balcony room or the window room again. I just like to look outside. Balcony is $400 more, ugh. But it would be nice...I'm also feeling "lonely" about this trip. Last time my mom dad and brother came with us, so there was always someone to do something with since there were 5 of us. This year with just us two I'm terribly afraid of BOREDOM and I dont want to pay an arm and a leg to be bored. I've tried to find people to come with us, but no one can seem to afford it right now. And who will take all our tacky tourist photos?! lol.

Anyway, that's all I've been up to :)

Going to make an inventive dinner tonight, wish me luck on not burning it to it's death.

    Birthday!

Wednesday, March 5, 2008, 01:09 PM EST [General]

I got lots of flowers for my birthday today!

The roses were from a secret someone :)

My PM was absolutely boiling today, I could just feel the tension lol. I got a cake, some cards, some gifts, two giant boxes of flowers were delivered, much more attention than she got a few weeks ago. Too funny :) She never said a single word to me today--keep in mind our office is the size of small house, so you have to put effort into avoiding people for so many months.

I'm going out to the Aqua tonight, I've been there once, it was really nice. Check out the menu:

Going to Riverside with my family this weekend too, they have the best grouper. That's one great thing about living on the water, the seafood was usually caught that morning!

Work was slow today...left at 9:40 and returned at 12:15...only picked up 96 letters...ugh. 5.50 feet letter, and 3.00 flats, 33 parcels and half were to one person fortunately....PM forgot a signature confirmation AGAIN today, I'm glad I'm checking behind them.

Just when Mondays couldn't get any worse...

Monday, March 3, 2008, 05:09 PM EST [General]

    Where do I even BEGIN.

The mail wasn't too bad for a Monday, I had about 11.50 ft in letters and 7 ft in flats. NO accountables but 2 insured and 1 signature conf. I could have used a little more for mail count!

I overhear the PM telling someone about the new sub situation. She had 3 hired (a MONTH ago) and we haven't heard from any of them since. Apparently only one is going to show up here soon, and she was a full time carrier in the neighboring town, and the story is that they drove her off because she was out so long due to pregnancy. I don't know what to make of that story. If anything, she'd have gotten leave without pay if she didnt have any days...I dont know what the whole story is, but now she is demoted down to sub and coming to our office but not to MY route which is still being done by another persons sub every other saturday.

ANYWAY, the PM walks by me this morning and says "Oh, by the way, you have to work Saturday" and stomps away. Alright...no one ASKED me if I had plans, if I could manage to work on my regular day off. I know I'm being called in to work so her boy toy can have the day off for a stupid ball game (he will take two whole days off for a dang few hour game). It's not fair, especially since I've never had to work my day off. Do I HAVE to take an X day or can I get paid extra for just working my day off? It pisses me off because we were all having a big get together for my birthday Saturday, but she doesn't care :(   I think it's her way of getting me back for something. And you know what? There IS a sub available that day but she wont let her do the route because "she doesn't know it". When I WAS A SUB, I did every damn route in that office and most without training first.  So that got my blood boiling first thing this morning...

Then she goes outside and comes back in "Carrie, you need to rotate your tires!" for the second time in the past week. Need I remind you guys, her boy toy's tires are BALD as a baby's ass. I am going to take a photo of my tires for you people, because they look NEW.

The next thing that goes wrong is worse. The PM comes over to my cart to count my parcels and look at my count sheet and she notices a chunk of numbers missing...SOMEONE DIDN'T COUNT MY LETTERS. She went nuts on the clerk and the count helper. Couldn't she just count what I had on my desk and in my case? No. She decided to just do an estimate or percentage or something she explained that I didn't understand. let's all pray I don't get f*****.

Then she counts my parcels wrong because when I checked my count sheet, she didn't mark down all my insured parcels so I told her she needed to add them....sigh.

I got out at 10:55 and returned at 2:15.

I had luckily collected 250 letters while out today which is the most I've picked up so far. (One carrier got EXTREMELY lucky and picked up 500+ from a business box...dang him). Anyway, I'm still confused about parcel pick up. I picked up a priority box someone gave me and she told me it would be counted as a letter. Today I picked up another large box and she told me AGAIN it would be counted as a letter.  I said "someone told me something about a 2lb rule" and she said "NO, you have to apply postage to the parcel for you to credit for a parcel"

I feel like an idiot, because last I checked, a 9x9x9 box didn't remotely look like a letter.

I cased my 3rd class and worked on my edit book and left.  With any luck someone forgot to turn the coffee pot off :/

    Mondaaaay....

Sunday, March 2, 2008, 08:22 PM EST [General]

Try as I may, I can't do enough nothing to make today any slower. :P

Monday is coming like a freight train, sigh.  ONE MORE WEEK of getting screwed with mail count. At least I'm helping my carrier out. I have an ass load of bills to give him this week, and I've ordered two parcels, one being an express.

On a lighter note, my birthday is Wednesday, yippee! Always a nuisance when it's in the middle of the week, but I'm good at drawing it out for the week into the weekend lol. I'll be 27 btw. I can't wait to see how my PM makes the day as absolutely miserable as possible since I completely disregarded her on HER birthday a few weeks ago, and hasn't failed to point out that a certain someone (ME) didn't acknowledge it. But that's only because she's a bad person. I don't celebrate with the devil, lol.

Watching Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel. You know, I'd almost rather be with him right now eating bull tails and thousand year old eggs than suffer another week at work :/

    Is it really THAT bad?

Maybe...I was pulling down my mail this week and by the time I got to my fourth row down, I realized I had completely SKIPPED the second row. Alright. I realized at that point, that I had totally and utterly lost my mind. At least it got some laughs out of people.

Hell of a sleeper, huh? :)
