    Blog Title For Sale

    Monday, April 28, 2008, 12:04 PM [General]

I couldn't think of a title, but it will do for now. This is my first blog on here. I don't visit this site often but I like to read your blogs.

My name is Linda and I work as a Sales and Service Associate in Camden, New Jersey. Ar night, I attended Rutgers University in Camden and I am working on my Baccalaureate in Pre-Law. Most of my internet time is taken doing homework and research. My future plans involve becoming a lawyer and quitting the Postal Service - but that is still years down the turnpike.

I have read two different blogs on here about cutbacks and change. I have witnessed at my branch the removal of two window stations and my local is in the negotiating stages of preventing what SSA jobs will be abolished and/or reverted. There are more subtle changes too, like on our "Hold Mail Notices" and on our "Peach Slips" or Form 3849. The newly printed forms have the added language "...to our customers, you may request holds and redeliveries on USPS.com" Increasing functions provided by an SSA are now available on USPS.com such as buying stamps, placing changes of address and purchasing delivery confirmation. Plus, the USPS gives customers a discount for doing this at home.

I haven't had the chance to talk with most of you on the site yet, but as my spring semester winds down I will have more time. The two people on here that I have messaged back and forth are very interesting and I know there are more postal workers on here that are just as interesting. To Julie, my sister in Christ, I haven't heard from you but I admire what you are doing.

Good luck to all of you, we are all in this together!

I am glad you wrote that first blog. Between working for the USPS, going to Rutgers full-time and your volunteer work at a charity (sorry, Julie told me me about it) I really don't know how you do it.
Just keep your eyes on the prize Linda. From the messages you send me, I know that you be very successful.
Our greatest rewards will NEVER be found on Earth.

Hi Linda! Welcome to Profiles. I hope you have fun on here. Like you said, "We are all in this together" so we might as well have a little fun on here.

I am new on the site also. It's nice to see another intelligent SSA hare. I am a former SSA. I was excessed from that job (after 23 years) onto Tour 1 automation in February. On April 26, I was excessed out of my automation job. I am now holding a T-1 SPBS job, but I can't wait to use my retreat rights and get back to the windows!

You sound like an ambitious person. I am a City Carrier in Destin, FL. Before I transfered here I was an Automation Clerk in the Daytona Beach, FL plant. I can sympathize with you and your busy schedule. I went back to school and got my degree in Commnications. I wasn't easy doing school, full time job, overtime and full time Dad and husband. Somehow I made it though, you will too. Best of luck.
