Ok, so it sounds like becoming a TE is not really an option for me. Is it possible to work the city side along with being an RCA? Just looking for ways to boost my hours at my own office and "try out" the city side to see if I would like it better or not at all. I'm wanting to figure out if I want to stay with being an RCA, then I wanna go "whole hog" as they say where I'm from...lol. If I'm gonna stay an RCA, I'll be going out to buy a RHD something or other in the next couple of months. City side sounds good because of the pay, benefits and hours....but with being an RCA I have the hope of maybe one day becoming a regular rural carrier....hmmmm....but how long would I have to wait on either side?? ARRRGGHHHHHHHHH!
Question About TE's
Today I had to go pick up a city carrier whose truck broke down. On the trip, we began talking about how I was desperately needing more hours. He suggested that I go speak to the PM about becoming a TE. He said TE's start out making $20/hour and that he works no less than 40 hours per week. Sounded good to me. What happens though if I go over to the "dark side" and find out that either I can't hack it over there or I can't stand it? Is it possible to go back to being an RCA again? If so, would I go back to the bottom of the people pile? Also, how should I expect this news to be received by the PM? Is this something I need to butter them up first over or would they be glad to convert another one over? Any other comments or suggestions are welcome....thanks! I knew before I ran to the PM, I better run this by you guys for some great advice! :)
Who Owns This Site??
Wanted to find out who owns this site if anybody knows. Wanted to talk to them about some of their Google ads. I used to create sites and made good money in my time with Google. Had a suggestion or two for whoever it is to help them.....Thanks.
Cell Phones & The Postal Service RQST Policy Chg
Ok, so I've seen the good old memo regarding the official policy of the U.S. Postal Service regarding cell phone usage in all it's STRICTNESS. Here's my problem. Every post office I've worked at thus far, the supervisors and even the postmaster has my cell phone number in their files. On more occassions than I can count, I've been called while on the route by other carriers, supervisors, and even the postmaster all in order to facilitate delivery of the mail in some way or another. Today, I get reamed because a customer called and complained that they saw me beside a lockbox on my cell phone (later to be determined that it wasn't even ME that they saw!) Anyway, so they were VERY quick to reprimand me on what they thought was me abusing THEIR cell phone policy? How much longer are all the carriers going to allow the postal service to get away with this hipocracy? If cell phone usage is, indeed STRICTLY prohibited....then don't ask for my number ...and DON'T CALL IT....for ANY REASON. I'm just curious how things ever got done in the dark ages BEFORE everyone had a cell phone out in their mail trucks?
I don't know too much about labor agreements and contracts and such...but in my opinion this is a HOT issue that should be rectified in the next agreement/contract or whatever.
