Ok, so I've seen the good old memo regarding the official policy of the U.S. Postal Service regarding cell phone usage in all it's STRICTNESS. Here's my problem. Every post office I've worked at thus far, the supervisors and even the postmaster has my cell phone number in their files. On more occassions than I can count, I've been called while on the route by other carriers, supervisors, and even the postmaster all in order to facilitate delivery of the mail in some way or another. Today, I get reamed because a customer called and complained that they saw me beside a lockbox on my cell phone (later to be determined that it wasn't even ME that they saw!) Anyway, so they were VERY quick to reprimand me on what they thought was me abusing THEIR cell phone policy? How much longer are all the carriers going to allow the postal service to get away with this hipocracy? If cell phone usage is, indeed STRICTLY prohibited....then don't ask for my number ...and DON'T CALL IT....for ANY REASON. I'm just curious how things ever got done in the dark ages BEFORE everyone had a cell phone out in their mail trucks?
I don't know too much about labor agreements and contracts and such...but in my opinion this is a HOT issue that should be rectified in the next agreement/contract or whatever.
Ok, due to the ENORMOUS amount of DRAMA unfolding in my life at the moment, I'm trying to find out how hard it would be to transfer to another post office, out of state and what the implications would be, etc.
I still have approximately 30 working days left on my probationary period, so that would play into the equation. Also, anyone have any suggestions of where to go?? All I know is I need AWAY from here (Here being MO). I need a place that has good schools, nice people, and a reasonable cost of living. Thanks!
I like to think I try to keep a good attitude at work but recently it's been getting a little harder to do. When I was hired, there were about 4 or 5 new hires all at the same time. Of those 4 or 5, one is a son of one of the regular carriers, and one has befriended the supervisor and has become a "drinking buddy". Whenever there's a truck to break down on the city side, they come and get the keys for my LLV, on whatever route I'm working. It seems to be ALWAYS mine. I'm beginning to think it's because I don't ever make a big fuss about it....but it's now getting to be a little bit old.
The biggest problem is that I don't believe that ANY of the other newbies have been required to deliver mail out of their own vehicles as of yet. As for me, I've had to do it more than a few times. I realize it's part of my job, etc. but fair is fair. I shouldn't be the ONLY one who is made to use my own car.
This is my first mail count and I have little to no idea about what the hell is going on. Recently they rearranged the whole office, moved cases around, etc. and I noticed that they've changed some of the routes too. Tuesday I'll be working on a route that previously had no LLV. I looked at the case on Saturday and noticed that they've added quite a bit on to the route. Here are my questions:
1. Do I get paid the OLD evaluated time on tuesday or do i get paid hourly since they altered the route?
2. Can they make me use my POV to deliver this EXPANDED route??
3. Do I need to go to mail count training?? I got a post card in the mail about it...what is it and is it necessary?
