    food drive

Well, the food drive came and went again. unfortunally, i felt kinda disapointed. i only picked up 1 tub of food this year. i thought i would get more. i had no mail saturday (2 feet of flats and .5 of letters to case up) i also only had 2 trays of DPS. i had more then enough time to gather food with mail being so lite. in all fairness, i was on an appartment rotue and people are afraid to leave food out at the clusterboxes incase people were to steal the food, but they could have left it at the leasing office. i just feel bad the we take 1 day in the year to donate food for a good cause and people cant even gather 1 can to give. i'm sure though that there were other rotues that get a whole truck full but, the more food the better i think.

Also you got to love the plant too. holding back the mail (even though they say they dont, we all know that they do) for the food drive, i'm not looking forward to monday. mail is going to be HEAVY. but you know, its all just in another days work, well get through it.

i hope that the food drive went better for for everyone else.

With gas prices and food prices rising faster than we can say BOO, I wonder if people just don't have it to give? Or they just don't have the "giving spirit" because of tough times. I know what you're saying about just one can, though. I did see a box with a bag sitting on top and there had to be at least 15 cans in the bag. How it stayed on the box, I'll never know.LOL

My major issue with the food drive is that those that give are the ones that need the help...those that can afford to give never do. Ive done it every year...and this year is gonna be my last...i just dont like taking from little old ladies on fixed incomes for people who wont work. I know that isnt the issue all the time...but sometime it is...also if we can help certain causes why not them all? I mean u never see them doing anything for the humane society. Also they need to donate that food picked up to ALL food banks equally...and they dont.

I didn't have much mail either on Saturday, about 6 ft of DPS and 2 ft of flats...today I had 16 ft of DPS and 8 ft of flats.

I probably had 15 grocery bags of food from my whole route. It was awfully sad. WAY less than usual.
