    day after holiday weekend

Tuesday, May 27, 2008, 10:28 PM EST [General]

i tell you what. i dont think that i will ever take a vacation the week before a holiday weekend again. after having 11 days off work, the day back to work is always tough not to mention all the mail we had because it was a holiday weekend. all i have to say is thank god i had a easy rotue today. plus, the station i work for took the marriage mail for this week on saturday so i didnt have to bother with that also. in my 5 years carring mail as a city carrier, this is the first time i have ever seen that happen. my other 2 stations that i have been at would not allow that. they said that you could not deliver mail before its delivery date but i tell you what, it sure was a big help. too bad the post office doesnt think like that all of the time. i was actually able to get my rotue done in 8 house and 15 mins today with curtailing only 1 ft of letter mail that came in the nlm tubs marked as flats. lol. dont you love how the plant does that. shouldnt that stuff be put in the dps? isnt that what dps is for. oh well thats our PO for you. i hope everyone else had a decent day and didnt work to hard. ive learned that the harder of a worker you are, the more they work the sh*t out of you. so now i dont work as hard as i use to as i did as a PTF. i hate that i have to do that because i am a hard worker and i can do my job. all of the carriers ive filled in for has told me what a wonderful job i do. i guess thats a good thing, you know, not to have any complaints. i just wish that everyone was like that. you know do your job well  so you can get it done fast and go home. i drive 100 miles a day to and from work and all i want to do is deliver the mail so i can get off the clock and get home. i dont want to be out there all day. i'm just a fast carrier i guess you could say. at least thats what people tell me. i'm sorry but i dont want to be out there all day. you know what i mean?!!! well anyways tomarrow should be good until i get on my overburden rotues this weekend. just another day at the PO !!

    movies

Monday, May 26, 2008, 01:07 AM EST [General]

today i got out of the house finally after my weeklong vacation. i went to the movies with my husband and mother-in-law. we went and saw Indiana Jones and iron man.  i must say it was worth the 5 hrs that we were at the movies for. indy was very good but a little slow to start but all in all it was good!!! 4 1/2 stars out of five i give it. iron man i would give 4 stars. i thought that there could have been more action in the movie. the technology in this movie was great. i deffently reccomend both of these movies for anyone whom is interstred in watching them to go and see. other than the movies my day was pretty uneventful. but it was a good day.

ps. i want to wish everyone a safe and happy memorial day weekend and i hope that tuesday back to work will not be too bad for anyone. you all know how a day after a monday holiday can be at work.  :)

    vacation

Sunday, May 25, 2008, 01:06 AM EST [General]

well ... i have been on vacation for a week now and only have 2 more days left. boo hoo. unfortunally if was a pretty uneventful one. with gas prices being so high and that they are only going up from here, i couldnt afford to go anywhere and also my husband couldnt get off work now that we both are sharing one car because we couldnt afford 2 cars. between payments of 2, insurance, and gas ... he had to get rid of his ford f150 and now all we have is my mustang. so as you can see ... i was stuck at home. i do live on a lake however so at least i went fishing and went out on the jetski and taned out on the beach. all that for free.... i guess not going anywhere turned out to be better in the long run. at least i wasnt at work. :) a bad day at home can sometimes beat a good day at work. but i am getting a little bit of cabin fever so i am almost ready to go back to work .  hopefully next vacation, we will be able to afford to get out and go somewhere. other than that i would have to say, no matter where you go or what you do, vacation is always good!!!!!!!

    food drive

Sunday, May 11, 2008, 07:41 PM EST [General]

Well, the food drive came and went again. unfortunally, i felt kinda disapointed. i only picked up 1 tub of food this year. i thought i would get more. i had no mail saturday (2 feet of flats and .5 of letters to case up) i also only had 2 trays of DPS. i had more then enough time to gather food with mail being so lite. in all fairness, i was on an appartment rotue and people are afraid to leave food out at the clusterboxes incase people were to steal the food, but they could have left it at the leasing office. i just feel bad the we take 1 day in the year to donate food for a good cause and people cant even gather 1 can to give. i'm sure though that there were other rotues that get a whole truck full but, the more food the better i think.

Also you got to love the plant too. holding back the mail (even though they say they dont, we all know that they do) for the food drive, i'm not looking forward to monday. mail is going to be HEAVY. but you know, its all just in another days work, well get through it.

i hope that the food drive went better for for everyone else.

    learning

Wednesday, April 9, 2008, 07:12 PM EST [General]

i tell you what, i hate to learn all new rotues but it is for the better, now i'm in a much nicer and safer aera. every day i have to pull over and get out my map because i dont know where my deliveries are. when they say, when in doubt turn right, thats not always the case. but things take time. at least this time i kinda know the aera that i'm in now. its not like when i came to the south from up north and didnt even know how to get from the post office to the main road right next to it. i'm just glad that managment actually had a brain for once. i told them that i needed 3 hours of help and they actually gave me 3 hrs of help. well soon enough, i'll know my rotues and everything will be all dandy. its just that i hate to walk into a office building and not know where to take the mail from there or go to an apartment complex and ride around the whole damn thing trying to find where the mail room is. its aggravating.
