stamp stock?

so i go to work yesterday and am talking to a regular in the case next to me and she says so do you have an extra $10-$150 laying around? what ?

well aparently our PM thinks we all need to carry that much stamp stock around each day. that includes the RCA's too. i looked at her and said do you realize that is half of a check for some of the RCA's a payperiod? well she was mad because one of the RCA's brought back 8 orange envelopes for stamps.  so now she thinks we should all carry out large amounts of stock each day. in our office we maybe use 3-4 books a week. we are rural but really its not ike we seel that many all the time . the only reason that the other RCA's had 8 orange envelopes is probably due to the fact i dont  know -- the price change of postage went up!!!! dont you think that coud have made a huge differenceon the amount of postage is sold in the next two weeks?

it seems like our office rules change from day to day. we come in and have one set of rules and by the end of the day they change. it has even gotten to the point that the supervisorhas starteed to see it too.

Well, I guess they can't FORCE us to buy them, technically...

I got that lecture a few weeks ago too, that we need to have at least 4 books of stamps in our vehicle. They are lucky I have THAT many!

I sell maybe 1 or 2 books a month, and maybe 5-10 individual stamps a week. PM can kiss my ****.

Not so far out of training that I don't remember Q- How much stamp stock do you need?
Answer- Sufficient for your route's need
If you use two books then thats what you need to carry with you simple as that,
And if you have a K route that requires large $ amounts of stock then the PO provides the stock and its accountable to you like a certified. If you don't have a K route tell her to bugger off

I have a constant battle in my office, I sell lots of stamps. I carry 1 roll, & 4-5 books of 20, then of course, I carry some 1c stamps now. I have the hardest time getting my stock filled between the time I drop it in the pm & the am. I tried to tell the window supv today, that my customers were in line yesterday when I brought their orders/pkgs in & I need my stock before I hit the street. My route is 1/2 seniors who don't drive so I get swarmed daily. I gave my last sub 2 books to carry, she still never had any for the customers. Always get the "oh, I'm so glad you're here today!" I always suggest that the new rca's in my academy start with 1 book & try to work up to 2, (we even have 1 instructor who gives each newbie 2 books... not with my money sorry!) You have the right to ask the pm to issue you consigned credit for your route, just be prepared to be audited quarterly. With all they are taking away from us in count... i'd rather keep the measley 20 mins they pay us per week for stamp stock so i'm not forced to market their products more than i already do!

There are a lot of ignorant city carriers and clerks that read this site. We rural carriers are literally post offices on wheels. We have to supply stamps and other services while the city carriers do not. We need to acquire knowledge about everything a clerk and a city carrier knows and we still get paid less than city carriers. I can be be a "bee-yotch" when it hurts my fellow human beings.
I truly love my job and I have some wonderful customers on my route, but we have a shady union at best.
My fantasy is to be hog-tied to Donnie Pitts, both us wearing roller skates and handcuffed by our wrists, so I could give him a piece of my mind.
