Anybody ever consider working for UPS?

What a depressing day.  Mail count results are in at my office, and just about all of the 'J' routes are going 'H'.  Some of the 'K' routes are likely to go 'J'.  That will of course result in fewer hours for a lowly sub like me.  I'm considering switching to UPS.  They pay really well once you've been on for a while.  The only problem is you have to start out as a part-time package sorter for very little money, and there are no guarantees.  I was considering working the graveyard shift there, and keeping my job as an RCA, so I could actually keep earning a decent income.  Then I remembered that I signed something saying that I wasn't allowed to do that.  Does anybody know the rules regarding this issue, or have any other thoughts or advice?  Thanks.

There was a time in my Postal career when I wondered what Brown could do for me. UPS's high salary tops out at $25 an hour - after 20 years of service. The USPS medical benefits and union dues are much cheaper. On the issue of working for both USPS AND UPS simultaneously - Chapter 9 of the Employee/ Labor Manual discusses the conflict of interest issues about working for both organizations and joining a postal union and the Teamsters at the same time.

So what you're saying is, if I'm not in the Postal Union, I should be ok?

Kind of sucks huh? I applied to UPS as a delivery operations supervisor...ive been told you can bypass the crappy package handler thing that way. dont know if thats true or not.

Have you tried calling other offices? There may be some out there that need subs.

A lot of subs around here are borrowed by other offices, so they get to work almost everyday. I would ask neighboring offices of they need some help.
