OIG Investigates Falsification of Clock Rings?

Wednesday, April 23, 2008, 09:33 PM CST [General]

A PostalMag.com reader says they have contacted the USPS OIG about their supervisors falsifying clock rings. However, according to this reader, the OIG said the Department of Labor investigates such complaints. However, according to this reader, the Department of Labor said the USPS should investigate these complaints. So I want to know, who is supposed to investigate?

andy and barney would do a Bang up job. they could definatly stumble upon the missing mail kind of like the hidden moonshine stills. then maybe things would go back to normal -- ok maybe not normal it is the PO.

I am no expert, Tom, but there is something referred to as the "Little Tucker Act" - link: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/28/1346.html. As you will read, it states that the juridisction of Postal monetary and FLSA matters should be investigated internally such as through the Postal Inspection Service. The same recently enacted dreaded Postal Reorganization and Enhancement Of 2006 (which has decreased our workhours) states in Section 409A - "the USPS shall be amenable for all lawful and unlawful acts in the name of the USPS. The more specific waiver of sovereign immunity provided in cases solely involving the USPS, which expressly governs jurisdiction of suits against the USPS, endows any court decision with the jurisdictional authority to decide this case."

    Tom,
The OIG can investigate that but primarily it is just done locally. The union should file a grievance and gather all information. I just did a grievance on this earlier in the week. I had a supervisor clocking carriers back in before 5pm eventhough they were still out on the street. What I requested was the carriers MSP scans to show they were still out. Now I wasn't looking to getting anyone fired but what I did was had management sign a statement that they did it and it would not happen again. I will save this statement and use it to black mail them for a little while. The OIG is not always a good thing. When they come in looking for something, most of the time they find someone else doing something wrong and then you have a problem. They are always trying to justify their jobs. If you need any advice contact me.
